As we dive into the second month of the New Year, it’s time to start setting goals that you would like to improve upon, especially in the workplace. It might be easy to fall behind on some work and lose sight of your tasks as the year progresses and unexpected setbacks happen. Think about tracking your progress throughout the year to help stay committed to your work schedule and goals. Bostitch Office will help you get started with these four ways to keep track of your work progress through 2021!

Break Down Your Goals:

Break down your goals into smaller tasks so that it’s easier to maintain. If you’re working with a team, divide the task into your team’s strengths. This well help take the weight off of your shoulders for parts of the tasks that do not fall under your strong suits. Using each the specific strengths from each team member can also help ensure the task runs smoothly and gets done efficiently. You should also keep a log of what you have completed so you can track when tasks are finished and when it’s time to move on.

Monitor Daily Progress:

Monitor your daily progress. Remember where you started, how much you’ve completed, and where you’ve left off by the end of the day. You can do this by keeping a time log or journal so that you don’t forget where you’ve left off, and it will be easier for you to pick up the next day. This will also help you plan when it’s time to call it quits for the day, so that way you’re not overworking or overwhelming yourself.

Set A Reward System:

By keeping a log or journal to track your progress on your assignments, it can also help you set up a reward system. Reward yourself with a break, going outside, or even something sweet to eat when you’ve completed your tasks. It’s important to reward yourself for a job well done after you’ve completed a task so that you don’t feel drained by the end of your assignment. This can also give you the opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise to rejuvenate your mind and body before starting your next project.  If you’re working with a team, make sure you celebrate together when you’ve completed a major goal. This way everyone knows how much they’re appreciated!

Plan Your Time Ahead:

Planning your time ahead is an important tactic to tracking your progress. It’s vital to plan your time ahead so you don’t get caught up in your work. Planning out how you’re going to complete your work will prevent you from feeling stressed or anxious by a deadline. Space out your tasks and manage your time wisely, so that way you’re not feeling caught off guard by a deadline approaching. Using a planner or calendar will help you achieve a smooth workday while also perfecting your time management skills.
